*Student's will be focusing on using socratic seminars to study the text closely in advance, listen actively, share ideas and questions in response to the ideas and questions of others, and search for evidence in the text to support their ideas.

*Student's will be focusing on cultural diversity, courage, family, and gender roles during the late 1700s

*Students will explain how the photos in the cover story add to their understanding of the text.

- Explain that photos are powerful tools that help convey information that words alone cannot. Although it's true that photos make an article more visually appealing, reader's should think of them as additional sources of information.
