Creative Writing:
Breaking Barriers
*All students will have the opportunity to be a part of a national writing contest called "Breaking Barriers" done by Scholastic.
- Their writing pieces will be done by using one of Jackie Robinson's nine core values to show how they persevered through an obstacle or challenge they may have had in life.
Newsela: "Children's Border Crisis"
This week, the students will read two differentiated articles that discuss' the border crisis in America regarding Pros and Cons. Once they read the article they will be asked to "explain which of the two articles makes a weaker argument. Give two or three examples of the kinds of details the author would need to provide in his/her article to strengthen the current argument."
Exploration:
This week we will begin going over American History starting with the Native Americans which will then lead into our Explorers unit.
President Research Project
*Students will be researching a president/vice president of their choice and then will be given three options on how they can present their research. Students will finalize their research this week and begin their final projects to show their knowledge on the President of their choice.
