Specials:

Monday: Music

Tuesday & Wednesday: STEAM

Thursday: FUND RUN!

Misc:

*T-shirt decorating party will be from 10:35-11:35 on Monday - parents are welcome!

*Design Thinking Challenge: Special Olympics

Purpose: Specifically foster students' developing sense of empathy, and overall to learn about design thinking. Students will learn to immerse themselves in learning from experts.

Math:

*Math's Mate Term 1 Sheet 6 is due Thursday

Chapter 3: DIVIDE BY A ONE-DIGIT DIVISOR

*Check My Progress: Mini - quiz on Monday & Thursday

*Estimate Quotients

*Divide 3 & 4 Digit Dividends

Reading:

*Unit 2 Vocabulary Test will be this Wednesday

- Practice activities are in their Flocabulary site

*We will be finishing Out of My Mind this week

- They will be completing a project to show their knowledge of what they learned from Out of My Mind, along with showing the new skills they've learned within the last 5 weeks.

Writing:

*Our main focus will be descriptive writing this week. While working through creating our goals, the students will be writing descriptive pieces along with checking their 6 traits to ensure they are practicing their specific goal.

- Showing, Not Telling

- Describing popcorn using all our senses

*DLI Week 4 practice (Finding helping verbs/verb phrases) will be due on Tuesday - September 20th

- DLI Quick Write 4 will be due Wednesday

Science:

*The student's Weather Test scores are in their progress monitoring documents

- Overall, the class did very well for their first science test! I was proud of everyone.

*We will be switching to our next science rotation

- MATTER with Mrs. Howard

Poetry:

*Students will be going through multiple genres of poetry including visual poetry, haikus, reverse poetry and many more. These are all innovative ways to create poetry using words that are found within our classroom environment.

*The kids will be learning these different forms of poetry starting this week and then will be given the choice to float through different stations to try to create their own poetry.
