Outdoor Ed

Dear 5thGrade Parents:
You can start earning money now while your child is in 5th grade to put towards next year’s
Outdoor Ed. The cost of Outdoor Ed is approximately $300 per student. To help to offset these
costs, Heritage families are lucky to have the opportunity to fundraise – starting today!
King Soopers – Participate in this easy fundraiser and 5% of your transactions will go directly
towards your child’s outdoor ed bill for the time period of October through through June
(there is a delay in receiving the funds from King Soopers, so we cannot offer this option
through July).
If you aren’t currently participating in the program, it’s easy to start. Just stop by the Heritage
front office and purchase your $5 reloadable gift card (already worth $5 at King Soopers), and
then the next time you shop at King Soopers, tell the cashier that you’d like to load your gift
card BEFORE checking out. Inform the cashier of how much you would like to load on the
card (maximum of $500 at one time), and then pay that amount by cash, check, credit or
debit card. Once the cashier loads your card, you will ring up your groceries as usual, and
pay by swiping your pre-paid gift card. King Soopers then donates 5% of your transaction to
Heritage monthly. A total of 5% of the amount that your family loads on the card will be
tracked and deducted from your outdoor ed bill.
Once you have your card (you can also get a card for your spouse, grandparents, other
family, friends, etc.), you can register it (or as many as you would like) for the Outdoor Ed
fundraising program by emailing the following information to outdoored@heexplorers.org:
Subject:
King Soopers
Email content: Student’s last name, first name and the LAST 11 digits on
the card (found on the back) in the following format: xx-xxxx-xxxx-x (this
format makes it easiest to track a student’s earnings)
Your information will be copied and pasted to a tracking spreadsheet, so please double
check your numbers before emailing them in. Then, use the card every time you shop at King
Soopers! You can even use preloaded King Soopers cards to buy gas at King Soopers gas
stations (e.g. the location at County Line & Holly or at Wildcat and HR Parkway). Last year,
multiple families didn’t have to pay a penny for Outdoor Ed because of this fundraiser!
This is a great way to get a jump on saving for Outdoor Ed! If you have any questions, please
email outdoored@heexplorers.org directly.
Sincerely,
Alisa Pauley
